Beverlye has been living with stage IV for 14 years, feeling wonderful on an experimental treatment. She is an advocate for being Co-Captain with your doctor, getting more then one opinion, combining Eastern and Western treatments for cancer and age related diseases. She believies that optimism, curiosity, exercise, nutrition and planning ahead are key to healthy aging and keeping cancer at bay. Beverlye is an author, speaker, photographer, and cancer survivor. She is also an aging advocate in Washington for Global Healthspan Prioirity Institute. After being told she had two months to live in 2002, Beverlye opted for an experimental treatment that helped her survive Stage IV uteral stromal sarcoma. She went to three different doctors who wanted her to do immediate, rigorous, standard treatment. She did not believe that was how she wanted to live the rest of her life , after seeing her grandmother, mother and two sisters die of cancer. She continued going until she found two doctors, Dr. Charles Forscher of Cedar Sinai and Dr. Frederick Eilbur of UCLA, who thought out of the box and prescribed an experimental treatment of hormone blockers, passed it through the tumor board, and fourteen years later she is still living well and managing her cancer. Although, she lives with her cancer, she leads a very full life, exercising, traveling, writing, speaking and using her photography skills on nature. She brought her best self to the table for cancer and as she aged she realized how important it was to be proactive and do the same with growing older. She has turned her attention to aging in better health. Beverlye's passion is to share her inspiring story of courage and hope with others, speaking at events around the country.

"I was so excited when Beverlye came to Maravilla to speak to our residents about your cancer journey, and more importantly, “Aging in High Heels”. What she gave to our group was beyond measure. They came away, after hearing someone as beautiful and forward thinking as yourself, with hope and a great awakening. They felt the freedom of having “firsts” in their life. One woman decided to take up Yoga after your talk. She said, “I’m 98 years old. I still want to have a ‘first’ in my life!" If Beverlye says we keep living a full life if we keep having ‘firsts’ then I’m in!” I can look forward to so much as the years go on, because Beverlye has come before me and paved the way to wonderful LIVING, with all the ‘blips’ that we all go through as we trudge this path of Life! Bless you for sharing!"
