“Isn’t it about time we change the way we look at aging?”
-Beverlye Hyman Fead
A Small Miracle
If you live long enough you end up being invited to a lot of parties. I’ve been from black tie parties, to beach parties on the sand, but I never had a more heart felt day then the party I went to, today. I saw the best side of everyone in the room and I am still high from it.
Make Plans and God Laughs
Our trip to Alaska was set. Hiking boots had been bought and broken in. I wanted to show the boys (my two grandsons) a different kind of beauty. A raw beauty, which I don’t think any of us had seen before. Temperatures 60 degrees high and 40 degrees low – rain every day. Two weeks before this trip my neck began to hurt but I didn’t dare tell anyone because I didn’t want to hear them tell me not to hike.
Life In The Big City
Hello, and welcome back to my former readers and thanks for joining me once again. I hope you have all fared well as can be expected in this crazy time. We have lost one of our dearest friends and many other dear ones during this time we haven’t connected. I realize we all have. To my new readers, I’ve missed writing, and haven’t written a lick since I’ve moved here. This is my first attempt, so please be patient with me.
My Mother's Happiest Time
My mother has been on my mind for this whole week. She passed away over fifty years ago, but we were in her territory now. We went to Palm Springs to recuperate from bad colds and I could feel her everywhere.
Miracle Face Creams
Let’s talk about face creams, beauty creams, miracle masks and how many we really have in all different drawers and shelves. And yet, we keep buying them, right??
Live Your Dash
We watched a Netflix documentary tonight with popcorn and a blazing fire in our living room.
We Really Don't Need Much
The other day we had an event happen to us that turned out to be very interesting to examine. The power went off in the buildings in which we live from 9am to 2am the next day. At first it didn’t mean anything to us. We were cocky.
We Are In This Together!
Happy New Year! I’m always excited about January. January brings a new beginning! Everything is possible! New promises and new objectives are promised to ourselves. A clean slate!
It's About Time
By the time you get this, I will be on the plane to New York and in two days time I’ll be on a stage doing my TEDx talk, fulfilling a long-awaited dream of mine.
It's Our Time, It's Our Turn
We hear about the Millennials, we hear about Generation X, the baby boomers. But have you heard about the gray matter? The silent generation? That’s us! Those of us born between 1930-1945.
Dreams Come True
I wanted to do a TED Talk forever. I wrote it down on my wish list for this year and lo and behold (that gives my age away right there) I got one!!
Is Lifestyle the Answer?
In my family, every woman died before the age of 64! As my friend said the other day when I turned 82, “you have just missed the opportunity of dying young, Beverlye.” That’s OK with me.
Sweet Dreams
He woke up early, maybe around 6:00 or 6:30. He slept, snored, talked and moved around all night. I laid awake, hoping for some shut eye, fixing my pillow, moving around, finally giving in to reading, taking another pill and falling into a shallow sleep.
Aging Today
I just read a book that is a best-seller and a very well written sweet book. But I must admit, it did annoy me a lot!
End of Summer Blues
How did Labor Day sneak up so fast? Does that mean no more white pants and shoes? I’m sick of my summer clothes anyway.
Talking With My Sister Eileen
Sometimes there is an exercise that not only helps the body, but also clears your head and feeds your soul. Hiking in the mountains is one of them.
Hiking For the Soul
Sometimes there is an exercise that not only helps the body, but also clears your head and feeds your soul. Hiking in the mountains is one of them.
Escape
Sadly, I went to a memorial service last week for a dear friend of my kids. He was a great kid who had grown up next door. He was way too young to die!
Crash!
Tonight on television I watched the glass ceiling come tumbling down! I watched history being made and I was in awe. This was not about politics for me. This was about history.
Ageless Amazing Women
I was walking along and saw her sitting on a bench and just had to stop and take a photo. I could see Betty had a great style and joie de vivre.
